Velocity Fraud Control with Convio

Convio has a suite of fraud prevention settings referred to as Velocity Fraud Controls. The basic strategy of a velocity approach looks at volume of activity by a specific parameter over a period of time. This document provides details of the configuration points available within Convio to enforce fraud prevention based on: * Authorized transactions by IP * Authorized transactions by email * Declined transactions by IP * Declined transactions by email * Number of distinct credit cards used by IP * Number of distinct credit cards used by email * Number of small donations by IP (presumably some defined value such as $5 - $10) * Number of small donations by email (presumably some defined value such as $5 - $10) Keep in mind that any fraud controls may result in some loss of genuine donations as well and the fraud strategy that best fits one organization will not necessary fit another. Once you determine a strategy for your organization that balances minimization of fraud and maximization of donations, please contact your Account Manager in order to activate and customize the Velocity settings described in this document.
