Reorganizing Website Structure?

Hi,

We are interested in reorganizing some of the content on our website to better reflect our mission and brand. We wondered how changes to, say our nav bars and nav bar menus, will affect the structure/stability of our site. For example, how will our search index be affected? What can we do to anticipate and hopefully avoid any major headaches and upsets? Also, once we've restructured/reorganized part of the site, is there a "Convio way" to add a site map? Has anyone had any experience doing this? Thanks.
