Text messaging

We would like to add something in Raiser's Edge that indicates that the constituent has approved their mobile phone for text messaging. If you do this, how do you record it?


My initial thoughts about options on how to code this:


- An additional "Text Message" phone type to easily see this preference on records and pull the numbers in a query

- Solicit Code

- Constituent Attribute

I like the text message phone type best of those options.

I like the solicit code as I hate seeing the same number listed more than once! OCD, I know.

This might be way more than you need but my last org used the membership module because, in addition to tracking text opt-ins, they also wanted to track the opt-in and opt-out dates.  The membership number was the phone number they opted-in with, so there wasn't any confusion if they happened to have multiple cell phone numbers on their account.

But then how do you know which phone the text messaging solicit code applies to?
