Event Participation based on Fee

Options
I know how to query to get a first time event participant but I want to get a first time participant of a specific (or set of) Event Fees.  That is, we have fees of type - Table/Adovcate, Table/Champion, Ticket/Regular, Ticket/Student, ...

We want to find out first time Table Buyers.

I can use merge queries which helps BUT if one person bought two table of different types (in this example) it does not work.  I'm used constituent summary event participations = 1 and criteria of event fee unit one of ... but it doesn't always work.

Has anyone figure out how to resolve this?  I think I stumped  Blackbaud on it.

  • I can't think of a way to do this entirely within RE, but you could export a list of all your table buyers to Excel, sort in date order and deduplicate using constituent ID to leave you with everyone's first table purchase. Then you can filter for just the event/date range you're interested in.
  • How many events do you have?

I've not had to do what you are describing but we do two galas every year and when I wanted to know who was a table captain in X year what I did was set up a bunch of event types - one for every individual year - and then I can isololate the year I'm looking for

My thought for you is depending how cluttered this would get is that you could have the query of event type=current event/whatever event you are trying to find and participant=table buyer and a separate line of event type=all previous events and participant does not equal table buyer

    Good luck!
