Sorry for the double post. This was previously posted as a reply to my first post stating that the community would be moving soon. It has come to my attention that people that have subscribed to notifications for new community posts may not have received a notification for that post. This is more than likely my fault because I originally posted in the RE NXT forum and Holly (our community manager) relocated the post for me. I'm guessing this somehow circumvented the email alerts. My apologies. I decided to go ahead and add this as a new post in order to (hopefully) trigger email alerts for those that have them set to make sure this info reaches as many of you as possible.

I do realize this is a very quick change and I apologize for the short (or non-existent) up front notice. It was not my intent to make this change so quickly, but circumstances beyond my control forced a decision on me to either move quickly with the migration or risk potentially losing content (ideas, votes, comments) from the old idea bank. I chose to move quickly instead of assuming that risk knowing that many of you probably didn't get a lot of lead time on the change. The change should have minimal impact from your end, however. Please accept my apology and feel free to let me know if the impact is in any way greater than expected.

I have closed the old forums so new votes and ideas cannot be added. Comments, however, can still be added on the old forum. I will be monitoring that forum for some time and I will try to be active in redirecting any active discussions taking place there to the new idea bank.

Thank you all for understanding. I look forward to using the new idea bank to interact with all of you and keep you all posted on our plans and actions related to your posts.

Thanks,

Jarod

  • Looks like all of the dates on the site have been updated to when they were moved to the new site (i.e. this week).  Is there any way to get the original dates back?  That gives users an idea of how long the idea has been on there, which also gives some idea of how likely it will be implemented.  For example, I had an issue, think it was about a field not being available in export, and Support confirmed that it was not available and recommended I added my vote on the Ideas site.  They provided me with the link to the Idea that was already submitted and the original post date was something like eight years ago.  Big difference between seeing an idea dated March 17, 2016 and something from 2008 (in other words start figuring out a workaround).

    Thanks!

    Hey Josh,

That is odd. I see what you are talking about. Funny thing is when you drill in to an individual idea, the date is correct (the original posted date from the old forum). I'll see who I can find to ask about that. Hopefully we can get the correct date to show on this Ideas page itself instead of having to drill in to see that. But at least the correct dates are there and viewable. Thanks for bringing that up.

  • I might be looking in a different place but the original idea and all of the comments have recent dates when opening the idea details:

  • You are right. My mistake. It's been a long week! I'm not sure what I thought I saw earlier... Let me reach out to customer support for the company that we use to run this idea bank and see what they say. I did expect the dates to be preserved.

    Hey Joshua,

I meant to reply to this sooner but was tied up until today. I believe this has been resolved. Ideas should now be showing with the correct "created by" date. Let me know if you see anything else!

    Thanks,

Was just checking out 'new' page.  What do the different categories under 'filter by status' mean?  Are you saying there are only 18 ideas posted for functions that already exist?  Seems like there's a post like that almost every week.  What is shipped?  Vs. planned?

Looks like only have the option for one vote instead of 1,2 or 3 for a suggestion.  Is that correct?

Are the filters only for newly created ideas?

  • Not all the ideas have tags currently. This idea bank has admittedly been poorly maintained. Part of the reason for that was the lack or integration with our current tools and the lack of an "owner" for these things. I will be combing through the ideas and updating them with appropriate tags, status's, categories, etc in coming weeks (it's going to be a pretty  large undertaking as you can see). Once I do that, you should see the statuses for both new ideas and old ideas.

"Shipped" means the idea has been implemented and is available in the latest release version of RE7.

"Planned" means we are planning on implementing the idea or have already begun working on it for an upcoming patch or release.

You are correct that using the new idea bank, you can only cast a single vote.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Jarod

Hi Jarod, looks like the ideas have the correct dates but the comments still all have March 17, 2016.
