Total received and projected giving in a custom report

I'm trying to consolidate current and projected giving into a single report that can be easily and frequently viewed. Honestly, it would be best if I could do that in a single query. What I'm trying to do is find any alumni who have given or will give a total of $500 or more by the end of the current fiscal year. I can query on current gifts easily enough, but can't query on projected giving the way a Cash Flow or Past Due report could. And of course those reports don't show current giving, so they don't give me what I need in a single place either.


I think there may be a solution in making a custom report, but I can't figure out how to export the necessary data. Exporting current gifts is easy enough. How could I export installments due within a given time period for any active pledges or recurring gifts? I'm sure I can sum the fields in Crystal Reports and filter by that summed amount if only I can manage to export them.

You can export instalments and their corresponding payments from a gift export but I think this is only for pledges, which have a fixed amount and therefore a set number of instalments due, whereas recurring gifts tend to be open-ended so don't have a set number of future payments.


For recurring gifts, if you exported the amount, frequency, and start/end dates, you could create a formula in Crystal to work out how many payments are expected between now and the end of the period you're interested in. I'm an amateur Crystal user but happy to help with that if required.
