Google Apps for Nonprofits and RE integration

Options
We are in the midst of moving over to Google Apps for email and calendar.

It was brought up from our development department that they sometimes use Outlook for prospect action notifications to schedule tasks and solicitations to individuals.

Is any organizations using a different email service such as Gmail for Work and also using RE?

If anyone has any suggestions to point us in the right direction that would be great.

  • We use Google for Work and RE (hosted). Because we are hosted, we are still able to use Outlook within RE. But because we are hosted, I'm not certain about using it externally from RE.  Sorry that only gives you a partial answer but I hope it helps somewhat.

  • We use GMail for email. Every time you click on an email address to change it, it trys to connect with Outlook. It is a pain. Because we have NetCommunity, we have to keep the email as an email type. You can suggest that RE integrate with GMail here: http://rediscovery.uservoice.com/forums/137015-raiser-s-edge-discovery-topics?query=gmail
  • The reminders can also populate on each person's Home page in RE.  But they have to remember to check it every day.  You can also set up Dashboards in RE for Reminders for each person.  I know it's not the same, but better than nothing if Gmail won't cooperate.
  • We use gmail email at my office, and also use RE (we are hosted). What we do at my organization is the development department shares on gmail calendar, and then sets calendar reminders for when to mail prospects letters and whatnot. That way, the whole team can see the same calendar.

If you have the phone type column before your email address you can click in that cell then tab into the email address to edit or copy. We do not use Outlook and this step keeps my blood pressure down.

Thanks fo the link. I had voted for one of the items previously and have now voted for them all.

  • Our internal email service does not integrate with RE, and I do miss the integration with Outlook.  Though action dashboards in RE are a fine workaround, it just isn't the same.  I say vote on that link Elizabeth provided for a gmail integration.

We started using Google apps for forms.  Now a user can submit a gift form or a project request form and we can track workflow.  Now that I've started poking around, Google apps provide a ton of cool options that I might adopt, plus user friendly and free.
