I'm not sure if this has been posted, but how do other organizations handle potential monies received from grants.  When the grant has been applied for and uncertain if you're going to receive the grant, do you still put it in as a pledge?  Or do you wait until the money is received and put the money into RE then?

Let me know how other organizations handle this.

As far as the money is concerned, I never put a pledge into the system until we know for sure that we are going to receive the money. Grant applications would never be entered in RE as a pledge. If we received confirmation that we were going to receive a grant, the money could be booked as a pledge, but I try to only add pledges when absolutely necessary. If that revenue absolutely needs to be reflected in your database/reports before you receive the money, then I would book the pledge. Otherwise, I would wait until you receive the money and just book it as a gift.

There are plenty of features - depending on which modules you have - that can track applications. However, I would never book a pledge until we had confirmation that we were going to receive a gift.

Same as previous post.  We do not put grant info in RE until $ received.
