Marking records as deceased, surving spouse has soft credits only

Options

All, wondered what your thoughts are on this issue.

Gifts made jointly appear as soft credits on the new record for the surviving spouse when you mark a constituent as "deceased". This can cause problems running mailing lists as these are normally driven by giving history. There are several workarounds, including entering a dummy gift, or moving the last gift over from the deceased record to the "new" record. Interested to see how you all handle this transition.

Best,

David

We consider soft-credit giving history when generating giving history lists/mailings to past donors etc.   Just a thought...
