Third Party Gift Entry - Canadian Specific

Options

Hi, I'd love to chat with some fellow Canadians out there re: CanadaHelps. I'm facing some challenges with entering their gifts.

I know the by-the-book correct way is to enter the gift from CanadaHelps, and then enter the CanadaHelps donor as a soft credit. However, this is giving me lots of challenges due to the way RE reports on Soft Credits.

I know some organizations choose to enter one CanadaHelps gift per "pay-out" and soft credit each individual donor to that one gift. Say, enter one gift for $1000 and soft credit the 10 $100 gifts that comprise it. Other orgs I know choose to enter the 10 $100 gifts so that they can one-by-one soft credit them.

What do you find works best for you? I wish there was a better way to enter these than using soft credit, but since there isn't, I'm looking to improve as many details of the process as I can.

FYI.. CanadaHelps is a not-for-profit that accepts online donations, and directs them to the donors charity of choice. They issue the tax receipt so are technically the proper donor for audit purposes. They issue a payout every two weeks which may consist of many individual gifts.

    Hi there,

In our organization, we create a package code 'Canadahelps' to keep track of them and enter donor individually. We have Gift Subtype - Wire Transfer, Gift attribute - Admin Fee, and we mark as 'Do not receipt' and $0.00 receipt amount as we do not issue receipt ourselves.
