I was going to post a question about solicitor assignements which on Blackbus.org falls under the "records" category but here there is no equivalent category and posting here in the RE general category abyss is useless.

When is this forum going to change to meet the needs of the users?

Just read your post on blackbus.  Don't know if it would work for you but this is how we handle it.  We're much smaller and don't have MGO/PM so it's just dev director or exec who might be checking on a propsect besides myself. 

We have an attribute on constituent record for each campaign type that they are a prospect for (annual, capital) that specifies what phase they belong to: board, staff, major, community, mailing.  For anyone with spouse records the attribute is filled with "spouse is constituent - see spouse card" and for business/family foundations while one side has the correct phase listed the other side has "verify need for pledge card". 

We added the attribute the past year to prevent both spouses from accidentally getting assigned out.  It's working for us.  Haven't tried a pop-up based on query of those records with that attribute but could see adding that in the future if needed.  The attribute has meant I don't have to assign the solicitor both spouses/family-foundation/individual-business and as you referenced get inflated assignment lists.

Just some thoughts.
