The best way to soft credit agencies?

Options

I have several events going on in which I need to tracking a lot of different variables. One of those events in called Tip-A-Cop in which various law enforcement agencies partner up and wait on tables at local restaurants. They receive donations during their service time. All of the money comes back to me and we process it in RE using Campaign, Fund and Appeal codes to track where the money is going. However, I also need to track what law enforcement agency brought it in. For example, one tip-a-cop brings in $3,000 and agency ABC needs to be credited for $1,500, agency XYZ needs to be credit for $1,000 and agency MNO needs to be credits for $500. I don't think soft crediting is the best way to do this, but can't come up with a better alternative.

Soft Credit should be used for shared giving.  You might try using the Solicitors field.  This is where you can record who was directly responsible for raising the money for the gift.  Set up ABC and XYX as solicitors (you set them up as a solicitor in the bio 1 tab for individuals and org 1 tab for organizations) and you can then run your reports to see how much each solicitor raised.  You can give solicitors a percentage or an amount of the gift, so crediting them for $1500 should work.  Best of luck.

Um - I would just enter this as three separate gifts.
