  • It will work but you may not be able to use integration features

  • You didn't mention if the mail server was co-located with your institution, but for what it's worth, setting the 64-bit issue aside, our institution is running Office 365 and we have been unable to leverage integration. My understanding is that Blackbaud can not deal with a mail server that changes IPs. They can only connect to a mail server with a static IP.

That 2013 date can't be correct.  The RE Community didn't exist two years ago.

Hey everyone, the 2013 date is correct. We migrated all of the content out of the RE forums into the community. So you just answered a post (and thank you for doing it) that went unanswered in the forums. This is GREAT because it means we are closing the loop on questions people had and couldn't get answered. Thank you so much!!
  • Is anyone else running a Hosted environment with Office365 that has been able to get mail integration to work? The only word I have received from Blackbaud is, "Currently there are no active projects working on this integration." At the time we received quotes to purchase the Raiser's Edge we were still using an old Exchange server and so Development folks were just itching to use email integration and it sounds like it might never happen.
  • We're in the same boat with Hosted + 365. I still do mail merges the old fashioned way - export to a spreadsheet and run the mail merge manually.
  • Our integrations, etc. generally run OK with 2010.  I know our school is switching to Office 365 this summer- does that mean I will lose my mail merge and email integration functionality?!  We host RE and EE on our servers here; we are not hosted by Blackbaud.
  • Hi Lauren-

I hope some more folks respond because it sounds like there are very few folks using Office 365. As I understand it this lack of integration doesn't matter if you are hosted or not. It was explained to me that the technology Microsoft is using to host mail servers requires the mail server "move around" by changing IP addresses, possible multiple times a day. Raiser's Edge requires that the mail server "not move around" because Raiser's Edge does not understand DNS (which would accomodate a mail server that changes IP addresses from time to time). I do not believe Blackbaud has any project on the books to update their integration so that Raiser's Edge can accomodate mail servers with dynamically assigned IP addresses and if that's the case, it sounds like everyone using Office 365 for the mail services is out of luck. Perhaps someone can correct me if I'm mistaken.
  • Thanks Aaron,

That is going to be a large inconvenience for our RE users.  C'est la vie...
