Based in Lilongwe, the Procurement Officer will work closely with the Program Manager, Senior Program Manager and Analysts within the Access to Medicines Program to oversee the procurement of key health commodities across several high-profile programs including pediatric HIV drugs and lab supplies, malaria commodities (mRDTs and ACTs) and essential medicines (cotrimoxazole, ORS and zinc).

 

For the past six years CHAI has been the procurement agent for all UNITAID-funded pediatric HIV commodities and in 2012 procured over US$8m in pediatric HIV drugs, test kits, diagnostic reagents, opportunistic infection drugs and nutrition products.  The Procurement Officer will play a crucial role in collaborating with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to forecast and quantify need of these commodities up to the end of 2014, conduct the procurement of malaria and essential medicines and contract third-party service provider to conduct clearing, storage and distribution of these commodities. The Procurement Officer will manage the procurement and supply chain of malaria commodities and essential medicines to several high priority districts over a two-year period in a project to strengthen integrated Community Case Management (iCCM). In the second year, the Procurement Officer will play a crucial role in transitioning the management of these commodities to the national system.
